Vintage afternoon tea at MetroDeco

One of my lovely friends recently celebrated her 30th birthday with a vintage tea party. This was such a nice idea as it was a chance for everyone to meet during the day and do something a bit different from just having drinks.  The party was at Metrodeco in Brighton, currently the only vintage inspired tea room in the city.
Afternoon tea consisted of lovely towers of salmon and cream cheese, and cucumber sandwiches, petit fours and pastries and some interesting loose leaf teas, all served with vintage cutlery and crockery. We were sat on some beautiful furniture which was for sale. I was a little nervous about sitting on a chair that was priced up at £625!

The food couldn't be faulted - it was perfect. However, one tiny gripe I have about MetroDeco, having visited several times recently, is the grumpy service and lack of space. For such a popular tea room with fantastic food you would hope the service would suit the experience, but sadly I had my plate whipped away while I was still chewing my sandwich and my quarter full coffee cleared before I could finish my mouthful to say I hadn't finished it... come on MetroDeco, train your staff in the etiquette appropriate to the vintage tea room environment and you're on to a winner.

  1. Thank you for your review and I am sorry that you have not had the best experience with our staff. We really do care about customer service so it is really important to us that we know if your time with us is in any way unsatisfactory. We have made some changes since this visit both to staff and outlay so I hope that on your next visit you may find some improvements and can enjoy your cake and drink to their last crumb and drop with a little more elbow room and that you get service with a beaming smile. Hope you will come again soon and please let us know what you think. Helen co-owner Metrodeco
